Apologies for the recent lack of updates; the main workstation and the network attached storage device both got hit by a power surge and diagnosing the extent of the damage has taken priority. The workstation has now been officially declared dead — or at least not economically viable to repair which amounts to the same thing — and I’ve decided to hold a replacement until Windows 7 is released. The NAS device is also dead but I’m hoping that the 2TB of data is recoverable.

I’ll start working on themakeupgallery again next week but updates are likely to be slower than usual until I get the kit sorted out at the end of this month.

21/10/2009 update: Progress in data recovery has been slower — and far more boring — than anticipated but the new server is now ordered.

The school holidays have arrived: holiday in the Picos de Europa; visits to Wales and London; bike rides; various ‘essential’ shopping trips; two birthdays . . .

Whatever, updates to themakeupgallery will be somewhat sporadic between now and the end of August; and then there may be a need for a short period of convalescence.

themakeupgallery: outage

Apologies to anyone who tried — and failed — to access themakeupgallery last night. One of Fasthosts servers went down, taking the site with it. The problem was fixed overnight and the site is back online.
