about themakeupgallery blogger
I clearly spent far too much time in my youth watching movies like The List of Adrian Messenger, Kind Hearts and Coronets, and Planet of the Apes.
I am not now, nor have I ever been, a makeup artist: I have far too many thumbs.
I am fascinated both by the transformation of actor into character – but bored by splatter – and by how movies succeed, or fail, to win the suspension of disbelief necessary for the makeup to ‘work’.
My main website on movie & TV makeup is themakeupgallery, started with modest aspirations, but can now claim to be best site on the Web featuring the work of movie and TV makeup artists. The makeups are illustrated with thousands of images of actresses in character and prosthetic makeup from literally hundreds of movies and TV shows; many of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ images of the makeups are accompanied by behind-the-scenes shots of the makeup process. Recently the site served 750,000 pages in a month for the first time.

WOW! What a huge work you’ve done. It is so interesting to see what other makeup artist accomplished. It’s really a source of inspiration for me.
you have compiled about the best collection of inspirational images around…I have quite a collection of print media images of make-up from the early 80′s onward and now….your work has far surpassed anything I ever thought possible/…I refer to your site often and always with excitment!
Thanks for the work…
Ciao,A
