‘under construction’ blues

Posted in makeup artists, websites by themakeupgalleryblogger on September 19th, 2006

So I came back off holiday a few weeks ago and cast around to see what had changed in makeup artists’ websites — only to find what seemed like a succession of ‘under construction’ signs.

I know a lot of these sites needed renewing: some of them were very tired; others didn’t reflect the quality standards of the artists’ work; still others were over-engineered, over-ambitious monsters. But I just don’t understand why they had to close down the old sites while they rebuild.

Anyway, I hope that the new crop will avoid some of the mistakes of the old, especially inflexibility: it’s really strange how people expect websites to be up-to-date and some of those sites were not designed to make updating easy - so they looked like they’d been cast adrift and forgotten. And how about more ‘before’ images: you may think that old-age makeup was really neat but how can we tell when it’s from some independent movie we never saw with an unknown actress - unless you show us what she really looks like.
