BAFTA Cymru Awards

Posted in BAFTA, TV shows, makeup awards, makeups by themakeupgalleryblogger on May 3rd, 2006

Congratulations to Davy Jones and Neill Gorton for winning the Best Makeup Award for their work on the first season of Doctor Who at this years’ BAFTA Cymru Awards Ceremony on Saturday 22th April 2006.

I’m really pleased about this Award for a number of reasons:
1) their work on Doctor Who was great and deserving of the award.
2) the reborn Doctor Who is so much better than I ever hoped (Hands up anyone who, like me, had believed this franchise was at least one regeneration beyond it’s sell-by date).
3) both Davy and Neill have been supportive of themakeupgallery.

Sadly, Doctor Who has not been nominated for Best Makeup in this year’s BAFTA Television Craft Awards (though it does have a nomination for Best Drama Series in the main Television Awards where it is up against stiff competition from Shameless, Bodies and Spooks).

Still Neill still has a nomination (along with Vanessa White)  for Help in the Television Craft Awards: up against Daniel Phillips (Bleak House), Fae Hammond (Elizabeth I) and Christine Allsopp (Casanova). Now if only The Virgin Queen had screened earlier the choice would have been easy.
